Dental implants can be used to help replace damaged or missing teeth.
Step 1
The procedure occurs under local anesthesia. The jaw is cleared at the place where the implant is going to be placed. The implantation takes between 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the number of implants necessary.
Step 2
The implant is inserted and the gums are closed with stitches. The gums cover the implant in the healing phase, providing the implant with more protection. Depending on the individual situation, the implant becomes fixed in the jawbones within 3-6 months. In the interim the patient wears a provisional solution.
Step 3
After the implant has healed, a head piece is screwed onto the implant. At this point the dental lab will provide the crowns, which the dentist will attach to the head piece to complete the implant.
